World of Difference (Applicants)

If you would like to apply for the World of Difference programme, please reads these FAQs for more info. If you are a charity and would like to find out more about how the initiative could benefit you, please read our FAQs for charities.

World of Difference is a programme which gives you a chance to follow your dreams and really make a difference to a local charity of your choice. World of Difference is giving you the opportunity to devote up to two months of your time to work for charity in Ghana and get paid. This year 50 people will be selected to participate in the programme.

Your chosen charity benefits from your skills and experience for up to 2 months at no cost to themselves. In return, you get to work for a cause you believe in at no cost to yourself. Not only will you gain valuable experience, but it will add value to your CV too. You will also be using your skills and talents to change lives.

We’re accepting applications from 4 July 2012 until 20 August 2012

You can start applying from 4 July 2012

You are eligible to apply if you are over 18 (at the time you begin your placement), have the skill to donate and a resident of Ghana.

Before you apply, please make sure you:

• Have discussed your intention to apply for World of Difference with your chosen charity and have a plan for what you’d like to achieve with that charity
• Can provide contact details for your chosen charity
• Have prepared your answers to the following questions
     a. Which charity would you like to work with and why?
     b. What skills or experience do you have that will benefit your chosen charity?
     c. What project would you be involved in with the charity?
     d. What difference do you hope to make for your chosen charity and the community?

Have two passport sized photographs that are true likeness of yourself (head and shoulders on a white background). This will be the photograph that we will use in any initial publicity, so you should be comfortable with the image.
Unfortunately if your application is missing any of this information, we won’t be able to take it any further.

 

You will need to work with the charity for up to two months or at reasonable time as agreed between you and your chosen charity.

Yes. You’ll need to have approached a registered charity, gained their support and agreed a plan with them before you apply. If you haven’t agreed a plan with your charity and are unable to provide their details on the application, we won’t be able to take your application further.

No, all placements will be Ghana-based.

More than one person can work for each charity but each application will be treated separately.
