VODAFONE GHANA MEGA PROMOTION
Terms & Conditions
This promotion is organised by Ghana Telecommunications Company trading as Vodafone Ghana and hereinafter referred to as “Vodafone”). All Participants in this promotion warrant that they have carefully read and fully understood these Terms and Conditions. These Terms and Conditions are subject to Vodafone Ghana’s general Terms and Conditions.
1 Duration & Participation
1.1 VODAFONE SIKA KESE3 PROMO (the “PROMO”) is an SMS based trivia and subscription service. The PROMO takes place from 1st April, 2019 to 30th September, 2019 (“PROMOTION PERIOD”). Throughout the course of the PROMO, participants gather points by answering multiple choice questions. Points correspond to entries in the prize draws.
1.2 Means of Participation
The PROMO has three levels of participation:
1 Free Standard Participation
2 Premium Participation
3 Personality Tests Infotainment service
The Free Standard and Premium Participations shall be jointly referred to as the “Trivia Game”. Personality Tests (“Infotainment Service”) subscribers will continue enjoying the service after the PROMO period. Throughout the span of the service, different infotainment services may be promoted in the same manner.
Free Standard Participation
Become a FREE STANDARD PARTICIPANT in order to enjoy the Trivia Game and participate in the weekly & final draws, free of charge. To become a FREE STANDARD PARTICIPANT, you are required to send the keyword, ‘FREE’ to the short code 560 or dial the USSD Code *560#. Participation in the FREE STANDARD TRIVIA does not attract any service charges. Every SMS sent to or received from 560 or call to *560# will be free of charge
Premium Trivia Participation
A subscriber can become a PREMIUM PARTICIPANT by subscribing to the optional subscription service which allows subscribers to participate for bigger prizes. Subscription to this level of participation is at a daily charge of GHc 0.75 until the promo ends.
To become a PREMIUM player, a subscriber must dial the USSD *570# or send the keyword ‘VIP’ or ‘OK’ to the short code 570. This will generate a welcome SMS and subscription SMS if successfully charged, GHc 0.75 daily subscription fee. Only upon receipt of the subscription SMS will a subscriber be deemed a participant. No charges will apply until the aforementioned subscription process is completed. A subscriber can become a PREMIUM PARTICIPANT by responding to the SMS prompts sent out to the FREE STANDARD PARTICIPANTS.
For the entire duration of promo, the PREMIUM PARTICIPANT will be automatically sent one SMS daily (SUBSCRIPTION SMS) through 570 short code adding him to the corresponding MONTHLY & FINAL PREMIUM draws at a daily charge of GHc 0.75 (including all taxes). In order for a PREMIUM PARTICIPANT to be eligible for the prizes within a specific period, the subscriber must have been successfully charged GHc 0.75, at least once within this period.
All SMS sent to 570 is free of charge.
PERSONALITY TESTS, the third level of participation, will run in parallel with the FREE and PREMIUM participation and promoted through the Mega Promo. This level allows subscribers to answer personality type questions on a daily basis while receiving various informative facts around their personality.
To subscribe to PERSONALITY TESTS, a subscriber needs to either dial the USSD code *580# and follow the instructions or send “OK” to short code 580. Only upon receipt of the subscription SMS will one be deemed a subscriber of the service according to these Terms & Conditions. No charges will apply if the aforementioned subscription process is not completed. A subscriber could also join the personality tests by following the SMS prompts sent to all FREE STANDARD subscribers.
The Subscriber will automatically receive one SMS daily (SUBSCRIPTION SMS) through the 580 short code with the first content of the day at a charge of GHc 0.35 (including all taxes).

PERSONALITY TEST subscribers will continue enjoying the service after the promo ends. Intermittently (twice a week) other infotainment services may be promoted to subscribers during the promo period.
1.3 To become a PARTICIPANT in the FREE STANDARD, PREMIUM or PERSONALITY TESTS PROMOTION, a Vodafone subscriber needs to send an SMS (with the predefined advertised keyword) to the promo short code 560/570 or 580 respectively or dial USSDs *560#/*570# or *580# respectively and follow the prompts. Upon completion of the subscription process, a participant will be charged (if Premium or Personality subscriber) before the first question of the day is delivered. There are no charges for subsequent questions received.
1.4 The ORGANIZER, at it’s sole discretion, may limit the maximum number of questions that every PARTICIPANT can answer in the Trivia Game within a specific period.
1.5 Participation in the PROMO and any winnings are subject to these rules, which will be interpreted by the ORGANIZER at it’s discretion. The ORGANIZER reserves the right to amend these rules at any time during the PROMO period. The ORGANIZER will not be required to provide any reasons for such alteration and no customer will have any claim whatsoever against the ORGANIZER, associated companies and their advertising and promotion agencies. All information, rules or conditions relating to this PROMO, published in or any promotional or advertising material in any media at any time before or during the PROMO period, will form part of the terms and conditions of this PROMO.
1.6 The ORGANIZER shall be entitled, in their entire discretion, to reject any entry for any reason whatsoever and will not be obliged to correspond with any person about the PROMO.
2.1 The PROMO is open to residents of GHANA who are pre-paid subscribers of VODAFONE, who are over 18 years old, excluding all employees, representatives and agents of the ORGANIZER, their respective parents, close relations and/or affiliated companies, contest suppliers, and those with whom any of the foregoing are domiciled. The person who owns the SIM card or has express authorization from the SIM card’s owner to use it is considered the PARTICIPANT, regardless of the actual user of the phone.
3 Game Periods & Prizes
3.1 The PROMO comprises weekly, monthly and final periods of play (PRIZE PERIOD), with each PRIZE PERIOD being mutually exclusive of the other.
3.2 For each PRIZE PERIOD, the corresponding prizes will be awarded to the winners based on the following mechanism:
3.2.1 DRAW: One draw will be held each week. For all draws, the specified number of winners with the Highest Points within the Draw Period will automatically be selected from all eligible entries. Each eligible PARTICIPANT will be allotted a number of entries equal to the number of points he/she has accumulated as at the time the draw is been held.
3.3 To be eligible to compete for a prize in the FREE STANDARD PARTICIPATION, the PARTICIPANT must have been successfully subscribed to the FREE STANDARD trivia after which he/she will receive a subscription notification.
3.4 To be eligible to participate in the PREMIUM DRAW, the PARTICIPANT must have been successfully charged the daily subscription fee of GHc 0.75 within the period after which he/she will receive a subscription notification.
3.5 To be eligible to participate in the PERSONALITY TEST DRAW, the PARTICIPANT must have been successfully charged the daily subscription fee of GHc 0.35 within the period after which he/she will receive a subscription notification.
3.6 For each PRIZE PERIOD, a specific number of prizes are available, as defined in the table below:

3.7 PARTICIPANTS charged within a PRIZE PERIOD are eligible to participate in the respective draws.
3.8 Prizes must be accepted as awarded and are not transferable or exchangeable. Prizes will be delivered within 20 working days from the end of the draw, at a time and place that will be communicated within 10 working days after the end of the draw.
3.9 Any expense not explicitly indicated as part of the prizes, including but not limited to insurance, travel expenses, accommodation, license fees or taxes, are the responsibility of the winner.
3.10 The ORGANIZER reserves the right to withhold the prize until satisfied that a claim is valid.
3.11 The ORGANIZER reserves the right to terminate the PROMOTION at any time without prior notice.
3.12 Participants who’ve won weekly or monthly prizes within the same level of participation will not be eligible for subsequent weekly or monthly prizes within this category.
3.13 All winnings within the different levels of participation are mutually exclusive of each other.
4 Game & Points
Free Standard Participation
4.1 The first SMS sent to 560 by the user or the user dialing *560#, allows the user to enter the FREE SMS Trivia Game and is called the REGISTRATION SMS. In response to the REGISTRATION SMS the user will receive one welcome SMS and an SMS with the first question.
4.2 Every received SMS contains the question, the number of points the user stands to gain and 2 varied answers in the format 1=AAAAA, 2=BBBBB. The user must select the correct response and send the corresponding number 1 or 2 or the options verbatim.
4.3 For every response to a question, the user may receive a response informing him/her of the correct answer, accumulated points and also containing the next question.
4.4 Participants will only answer 5 questions daily.
4.5 A user will be awarded 20 points for every correct answer and 10 points awarded as consolation points for a wrong answer.
4.6 The first SMS sent to 570 by the user or the user dialing *570#, allows the user to enter the PREMIUM level of participation and is called the REGISTRATION SMS. In response to the REGISTRATION SMS the user will receive one welcome SMS and an SMS with the first question.
4.7 Every SMS contains the question, the number of points the user stands to gain and 2 varied answers in the format 1=AAAAA, 2=BBBBB. The user must select the correct response and send the corresponding number 1 or 2 or the options verbatim.
4.8 For every response to a question, the user may receive a response informing him/her of the correct answer, accumulated points and also containing the next question.
4.9 Participants will only answer 5 questions daily.
4.10 A user will be awarded 20 points for every correct answer and 10 points awarded to users for wrong answers. Invalid answers under this level of participation attracts zero points.
4.11 However, all players of the PREMIUM participation are automatically awarded 100 points daily, after a successful charge.
Personality Test Infotainment Service
4.12 The first SMS sent to 580 by the user or the user dialing *580#, allows the user to enter the PERSONALITY TEST INFOTAINMENT SERVICE and is called the REGISTRATION SMS. In response to the REGISTRATION SMS the user will receive one welcome SMS and an SMS with the first question.
4.13 Every SMS contains the question and the number of points the user stands to gain and 2 varied answers in the format 1=AAAAA, 2=BBBBB. The user must select the correct response and send the corresponding number 1 or 2 or the options verbatim.
4.14 For every response to a question, the user may receive a response informing him/her of the correct answer, accumulated points and also containing the next question.
4.15 Participants will only answer 5 questions daily.
4.16 Every correct answer a user sends as a response to a question attracts 50 points. Invalid answers under this level of participation attracts zero points.
4.17 However, all players of the PERSONALITY TEST INFOTAINMENT SERVICE are automatically awarded 100 points daily, after a successful charge.
5 Cost & Subscription
5.1 Every SUBSCRIPTION SMS successfully received from the short code 570 is charged at GHc 0.75 GHS inclusive of all taxes.
5.2 Every SUBSCRIPTION SMS successfully received from the short code 580 is charged at GHc 0.35 inclusive of all taxes.
5.3 Every SMS received from the short code 560 is either free of charge.
5.4 The Weekly, Monthly and Final Prize draws will be executed as follows:
– Each point earned for a correct or a wrong answer equates to one draw entry
– To qualify for a particular prize draw, a participant must have been successfully charged for a daily subscription fee either for Free Standard Participation (GHc 0.75 daily) or Personality Test (GHc 0.35 daily) prior to the draw.
– All participants enter into the corresponding prize draw with the total number of points they’ve gained up to that point in time. Hence points subscribers gain will be cumulative throughout the span of the promo.
5.5 Where a PARTICIPANT does not have sufficient credit to receive the SUBSCRIPTION SMS on a specific day, he will NOT enjoy ANY of the benefits.
5.6 PARTICIPANTS can terminate their subscription by sending “STOP” to the PROMO short codes (560,570, and 580) at zero cost to the subscriber.
5.7 PARTICIPANTS’ subscription can also be canceled at the sole discretion of the organizer in the event a clear expression of non-interest in participation is demonstrated by the participant via SMS communication (e.g. the Participant is sending a message to any of the PROMO short codes reporting “I do not want to participate”).
6 Additional capabilities
6.1 PARTICIPANTS can request that no further INVITATION SMS are sent to them by sending the keyword “STOP” to the PROMO short codes, in this case 560. 570 and 580. This attracts no charges.
6.2 PARTICIPANTS can get more information about the promotion by sending “INFO” to the PROMO short codes, in this case 560. 570 and 580. This attracts no charges.
6.3 PARTICIPANTS can get their last unanswered question for free by sending “LAST” to the PROMO short codes, in this case 560. 570 and 580. This attracts no charges
6.4 PARTICIPANTS can get to know their points in the Trivia Game for free by sending “POINTS” to the PROMO short codes, in this case 560. 570 and 580. This attracts no charges.
7 Winner selection, notification and prize forfeiture
7.1 On a weekly basis winners will be selected (as specified in section 3).
7.2 For every prize, available in the PRIZE table, one winner and 40 runner-ups will be selected.
7.3 Every winner will be contacted by the ORGANIZER on the mobile number used for participation. Three (3) consecutive voice call attempts will be made each day by the ORGANIZER to contact the winners within 5 working days. If the winner is unreachable within this period, he is disqualified and the prize is forfeited and transferred to the next runner-up. Same procedure above for contacting winners will be applicable to all selected winners.
7.4 The winner is required to provide a valid ID card (excluding Health Insurance Cards) and sign a prize acceptance form (as requested by the ORGANIZER) before prizes can be collected. If the winner fails to provide sufficient proof within fifteen (10) working days, he is disqualified and forfeits the prize and the next runner up is contacted.
7.5 If the winner has any outstanding debts with the ORGANIZER, these need to be settled within three (3) days after being contacted by the ORGANIZER. If outstanding debts are not settled within that period, the winner’s prize will be forfeited.
7.6 If the winner and all runners-up forfeit the prize, the prize is deemed unclaimed and remains at the disposal of the ORGANIZER.
7.7 By accepting a prize, a winner consents to the use of his first name, initial of last name, city of residence, photograph and likeness in any promotional material produced by the ORGANIZER. Such use does not entitle the winner to any further compensation.
7.8 Prize winners are required to be available for media interviews.
7.9 Prizes are limited to a maximum of one (1) prize per prize category (as defined in section 3.4), per physical person and per MSISDN.
7.10 Prizes winners will be required to choose between one of the two ways to redeem their prizes:
7.10.1 Come in person to the VODAFONE HQ located on the premises of Manet Towers, Airport, Accra, to redeem the prize.
7.10.2 The cash prize can also be transferred into the winner’s Vodafone Cash accounts.
8 Abuse and disqualification
8.1 PARTICIPANTS are not allowed to use machines that send automatic SMS messages or automate/facilitate the answer process or any other alternative of sending SMSs, other than the mobile phone. This prohibits the use of any GSM modems attached to a computer or mobile phones attached to a computer. The ORGANIZER has the right to disqualify any PARTICIPANT reasonably suspected to have violated this obligation.
8.2 The ORGANIZER may refuse to award any prize if any irregularities or fraudulent activities are detected in relation to clause 8.1 above.
9 Organizer’s responsibilities
9.1 ORGANIZER’s responsibility is strictly limited to giving out the prizes to the selected winners.
9.2 The ORGANIZER cannot be held responsible for any delay or impossibility of sending, receiving and/or billing SMSs because of a technical problem. All the SMSs will be considered received by the ORGANIZER when they are registered in the PROMO’s IT system and not when they are sent by the PARTICIPANT. All SMSs will be considered received by the PARTICIPANT at the moment they are sent from the PROMO’s IT system.
9.3 PARTICIPANTS recognize and accept that the journal of the informatics system of the PROMO’s IT System is the proof of the date, hour, minute and second of their receiving/sending each SMS message.
10 Personal Data Protection
10.1 By participating in the PROMOTION, the PARTICIPANTS expressly agree that personal data which they supply shall be processed by the ORGANIZER for the purposes of executing the PROMOTION and also for the purpose of publicizing the PROMOTION and the ORGANIZER. It is hereby specified that the ORGANIZER guarantees that publicity, entailing the sharing with third parties of personal data supplied as a result of participation in the PROMOTION, (including through television, the press, leaflets and other means and formats of communication) shall be made only with respect to the winners of the Prizes and will only indicate the given names and surnames of the winners, their place of residence, their images and voices (contained in photographic records, audio, video and other types of records, made with the purposes of publicity connected to the PROMOTION). The winning PARTICIPANTS give, through their participation in the PROMOTION, express consent for the use of this data in formats herein defined. Following the termination of the PROMOTION, the personal data will be destroyed.
10.2 In accordance with local laws and regulations, the ORGANIZER respects the privacy of PARTICIPANTS of this PROMOTION, by which it is committed to the use of technology in a transparent form and in strict observance of the rights, freedom and guarantees of the citizens and by the reservation of the intimacy of their private and family life. The personal data collected within the scope of this PROMOTION will be treated as private and confidential. It shall not be disclosed to other individuals or organizations, except in the event of legislation to the contrary or where such is authorized by the PARTICIPANTS themselves. The data will be stored on servers with access controlled on a need-to-know basis and limited by passwords.
Limitation of liability
1. Vodafone accepts no responsibility whatsoever for and without limitation, any error, omission, interruption, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure when it is not under its direct control.
2. Vodafone shall make commercially reasonable efforts to ensure that the benefits promoted as being available to members will actually be available as represented. However, Vodafone does not guarantee or warrant that such benefits shall always be available.
3. If for any reason any aspect of this Promotion is not capable of running as planned, including by reason of infection by computer virus, network failure, bugs, tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other cause beyond the control of Vodafone which corrupts or affects the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this offer, Vodafone may in its sole discretion modify or suspend the Promotion or invalidate any affected membership. If an act, omission, event or circumstance occurs which is beyond the reasonable control of Vodafone and which prevents Vodafone from complying with these terms and conditions Vodafone will not be liable for any failure to perform or delay in performing its obligation.
4. Vodafone reserves the right to suspend the Promotion temporarily or permanently for legal, regulatory and for operational reasons (e.g. for repairs, planned maintenance or upgrades) whenever it is deemed necessary. Vodafone undertakes where possible to restore the Promotion as soon as practicable after any temporary suspension period. Vodafone shall not be liable for any claims, losses or injuries whatsoever the Customer may suffer as a result any such suspension
Disclaimer of Warranties
1. Vodafone makes no warranty, implied or express, that any part of the Promotion will be uninterrupted and error-free.
2. Neither Vodafone nor any of its directors, employees, agents or suppliers shall accept any responsibility for any damage, loss, injury or disappointment suffered by any Customer for participating in the Promotion.
1. A member’s continued participation in the Promotion constitutes the member’s acceptance of any changes to these Terms and Conditions. Members are responsible for remaining knowledgeable as to any changes that Vodafone may make to these Terms and Conditions. Vodafone will endeavour to make available the Terms and Conditions and any changes thereto on the Vodafone website – www.vodafone.com.gh
2. Members are liable for any claims from third parties, including the tax authorities, arising from participation in this Promotion.
3. Personal data relating to participants in the Promotion will be processed and used for purposes of the Promotion in accordance with applicable Data Protection Law. Personal data shall be used and exchanged by Vodafone.
4. Vodafone reserves the right to terminate, suspend, cancel or amend the offer and these Terms and Conditions, reward structure, participation of any subscriber in the Promotion, or procedures at any time. Any changes will be posted on the Vodafone website and other online platforms and shall be binding on a subscriber. Vodafone will use all endeavours to minimise any effect on the subscriber in order to avoid disappointment.
5. In the event of dispute regarding the interpretation of the Terms and Conditions, conduct and all other matters relating to the offer the decision of Vodafone shall be final and without appeal.
6. These Terms and Conditions will remain in full force and effect while the offer lasts (not taking into account temporary suspensions of the offer for operational reasons, e.g. for repairs, planned maintenance or upgrades).
7. These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed exclusively in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Ghana
