Terms & Conditions




This promotion is organised by Ghana Telecommunications Company Limited trading as Vodafone Ghana and hereinafter referred to as “Vodafone”. All Players in this promotion warrant that they have carefully read and fully understood these Terms and Conditions. These Terms and Conditions are subject to Vodafone Ghana’s general Terms and Conditions.


1                    Duration & Participation


1.1              Vodafone 90 Minutes Football Promotion (the “PROMO”) is a subscription based SMS trivia. The PROMO takes place from 13 June 2018 to 13 December 2018 (“PROMO PERIOD”). Throughout the course of the PROMO, players gather points by answering multiple choice questions about Football in general. Highest points correspond to selection and awarding of winners.

1.2                Means of Participation


Players in the PROMO (“Player” or “Players”) will answer trivia questions via SMS. To begin, Players will dial *544# to initiate the PROMO menu. Players can also initiate to join promo directly by dialing *544*1#

The items on the PROMO menu are as follows:


  • Join Promo
  • Check Your Points
  • Stop Promo
  • Help


Join Promo: Players select this option to initiate subscription and start their participation in the PROMO. A daily subscription fee of GHc 0.60 is required from Players. This will automatically be deducted once a day. Once this daily subscription fee has been successfully deducted from Player’s credit, it will unlock unlimited questions till midnight. Between the time of successful deduction and midnight, a Player can answer as many questions as they are able to. However, Vodafone, at its sole discretion, may limit the maximum number of questions that every Player can answer in the PROMO within a specific period.


A successful daily charge automatically gives a Player 20 points. A correct answer gives a Player 10 points. A wrong answer gives a Player 5 points.


Check Your Points: This feature allows Players check how many points they have accumulated so far in the PROMO. Players can also dial *544*2# to access accumulated points information directly. Points information is sent to Player via text.


Stop Promo: This feature cancels a Player’s subscription to the PROMO. By using this feature to initiate unsubscription, a Player agrees to the following changes to their status:


  • An end to the daily subscription fee deductions.
  • Inability to continue receiving and responding to questions.
  • Ineligibility for any prize that has not already been earned at the time of unsubscription.
  • forfeiture of all accumulated points in the PROMO, with no opportunity to have points restored, even when they choose to return to the PROMO.


Help: Players receive a summary of PROMO mechanics, as well as a link to the PROMO Terms and Conditions.


  • Participation in the PROMO and any winnings are subject to these rules, which will be interpreted by Vodafone at its discretion. Vodafone reserves the right to amend these rules at any time during the PROMO period. Vodafone will not be required to provide any reason for such alteration and no customer will have any claim whatsoever against Vodafone, associated companies and their advertising and PROMO agencies. All information, rules or conditions relating to this PROMO, published in or any PROMO advertising material in any media at any time before or during the PROMO period, will form part of the Terms and Conditions of this PROMO.
  • Vodafone shall be entitled, at it’s sole discretion, to reject any entry that is proven to have been entered by an ineligible player, or by a player who gained an unfair advantage in exercising play.


  • For a player to be eligible to participate in the PROMO, they must meet ALL of the following criteria:


  • Must be a Consumer Mobile Prepaid subscriber of Vodafone in Ghana.
  • Must be 18 years old or over.
  • Must not be an employee of Vodafone, or Vodafone’s parent company, Vodafone’s suppliers, Vodafone’s representatives or Vodafone agents.
  • Must not be a direct relation of an employee of Vodafone. Direct relation includes – but not limited to – spouses, parents, siblings and children.
  • Must be the owner of the SIM Card used to participate in the PROMO, or should have received authorization from the owner of the SIM card used to participate in the PROMO.


2               Reward Periods & Prizes


2.1         The PROMO has the following reward periods:


  • Every 90 minutes
  • Daily
  • Weekly
  • Monthly
  • Ultimate


  • The rewards are distributed over the above reward periods, as follows:


  • Within every 90 minutes, the Player who accumulates the most points will win the 90-

minute prize.

  • Within every 24 hours, the Player who accumulates the most points will win the daily prize.
  • Within every 7 days, the Player who accumulates the most points will win the weekly prize.
  • Within every 30 days, the Player who accumulates the most points will win the monthly


  • At the end of 180 days, the Player who accumulates the most points will win the ultimate prize.


  • For the purpose of determining what is 90 minutes for the PROMO, the following time slots have been set, and the players with the highest points acquired within each of these time slots, will win the 90-minute prize. Time slots are in Greenwich Mean Time.

2.5         No one Player can win more than two 90-minute prizes in a day. Should a Player accumulate the most points in more than two 90-minute slot in a day, any subsequent winning will be passed on to the Player with the next highest number of points accumulated.


2.6         No one Player can win more than two daily prizes in a week. Should a Player accumulate the most points in more than two days in a week, any subsequent winning opportunity will be passed on to the Player with the next highest number of points accumulated.


2.7         No one Player can win more than two weekly prizes in a month. Should a Player accumulate the most points in more than two weeks in a day, any subsequent winning will be passed on to the player with the next highest number of points accumulated.


2.8         No one Player can win more than three monthly prizes over the entire PROMO period. Should a Player accumulate the most points in more than two months during the PROMO period, any subsequent winning will be passed on to the player with the next highest number of points accumulated.


  • None of the rules and limitations on number of allowable winnings, within specific time periods, can affect a player’s eligibility to win the ultimate prize.


3                    Winners Rules and Regulations


3.1              Winners must accept prizes as offered by Vodafone. Prizes cannot be transferred or exchanged.


3.2              Prizes will be delivered to winners within the following timelines:

–       Monthly & Ultimate Winners: Within 15 working days of Vodafone notifying winner of the winning.

–       90 Minutes, Daily and Weekly prizes: Within 3 working days of Vodafone notifying winner of winning.


3.3              Winners are responsible for bearing any cost they will incur in their effort to collect a winning prize. This includes – but not limited to – insurance, travel, accommodation, license fees, regulatory fees and taxes.


3.4              Vodafone will verify and submit each winning to due diligence. In case winnings are found to be invalid, Vodafone reserves the right to withhold the prize until winnings are validated.


3.5              The winner is required to provide a valid national ID card and sign a prize acceptance form (as requested by Vodafone) before prizes can be collected. If the winner fails to provide sufficient proof within 15 working days, he is disqualified and forfeits the prize and the next runner-up is contacted.


3.6              If the winner has any outstanding debts with Vodafone, these need to be set off against the value of their prize winning(s), unless winner settles debt within 10 working days of being notified by Vodafone.


3.7              If the winner and all runners-up forfeit the prize, the prize is deemed unclaimed and remains at the disposal of Vodafone.


3.8              By accepting a prize, a winner consents to the use of his first name, initial of last name, city of residence, photograph and likeness in any PROMO material produced by Vodafone. Such use does not entitle the winner to any further compensation.


3.9              Prize winners are required to be available for media interviews.


3.10          Prize winners will be required to redeem their prizes in the following ways:

–            Monthly & Ultimate Winners: Come in person to the Vodafone HQ located on the premises of Manet Towers, Airport, Accra, to redeem the prize.

–            90 Minutes, Daily and Weekly prizes: The cash prize will be transferred into the winners’ Vodafone Cash accounts.



4                    Abuse and Disqualification


4.1              Players are not allowed to use machines that send automatic SMS messages or automate/facilitate the answer process or any other alternative of sending SMSs, other than the mobile phone. This prohibits the use of any GSM modems attached to a computer or mobile phones attached to a computer. Vodafone has the right to disqualify any player reasonably suspected to have violated this obligation.


4.2              Vodafone may refuse to award any prize if any irregularities or fraudulent activities are detected in relation to clause 4.1 above.



5                    Vodafone’s Responsibilities

5.1              Vodafone is responsible for managing the PROMO in addition to giving out the prizes to the selected winners.


5.2              Vodafone cannot be held responsible for any delay or impossibility of sending, receiving and/or billing SMSs because of a technical problem. All the SMSs will be considered received by Vodafone when they are registered in the PROMO’s IT system and not when they are sent by the Player. All SMSs will be considered received by the Player at the moment they are sent from the PROMO’s IT system.


5.3              Players recognize and accept that the journal of the PROMO’s IT System is the proof of the date, hour, minute and second of their receiving/sending each SMS message.



6                    Personal Data Protection

6.1              By participating in the PROMO, Players expressly agree that personal data which they supply shall be processed by Vodafone for the purposes of executing the PROMO and also for the purpose of publicizing the PROMO and Vodafone. It is hereby specified that Vodafone guarantees that publicity, entailing the sharing with third parties of personal data supplied as a result of participation in the PROMO, (including through television, the press, leaflets and other means and formats of communication) shall be made only with respect to the winners of the Prizes and will only indicate the given names and surnames of the winners, their place of residence, their images and voices (contained in photographic records, audio, video and other types of records, made with the purposes of publicity connected to the PROMO).  The winning Players give, through their participation in the PROMO, express consent for the use of this data in formats herein defined. Following the termination of the PROMO, the personal data will be destroyed after 90 days.


6.2              Subject to 6.1 and in accordance with local laws and regulations, Vodafone respects the privacy of Players of this PROMO, by which it is committed to the use of technology in a transparent form and in strict observance of the rights, freedom and guarantees of the Players and by the reservation of the intimacy of their private life. The personal data collected within the scope of this PROMO will be treated as private and confidential. It shall not be disclosed to other individuals or organizations, except in the event of legislation to the contrary or where such is authorized by the Players themselves. The data will be stored on servers with access controlled on a need-to-know basis and limited by passwords.



Limitation of liability


  1. Vodafone accepts no responsibility whatsoever for and without limitation, any error, omission, interruption, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure when it is not under its direct control.
  2. Vodafone shall make commercially reasonable efforts to ensure that the benefits promoted as being available to Players will actually be available as represented. However, Vodafone does not guarantee or warrant that such benefits shall always be available.
  3. If for any reason any aspect of this PROMO is not capable of running as planned, including by reason of infection by computer virus, network failure, bugs, tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other cause beyond the control of Vodafone which corrupts or affects the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this offer, Vodafone may in its sole discretion modify or suspend the PROMO or invalidate any affected membership. If an act, omission, event or circumstance occurs which is beyond the reasonable control of Vodafone and which prevents Vodafone from complying with these terms and conditions Vodafone will not be liable for any failure to perform or delay in performing its obligation.


  1. Vodafone reserves the right to suspend the PROMO temporarily or permanently for legal, regulatory and for operational reasons (e.g. for repairs, planned maintenance or upgrades) whenever it is deemed necessary. Vodafone undertakes where possible to restore the PROMO as soon as practicable after any temporary suspension period. Vodafone shall not be liable for any claims, losses or injuries whatsoever the Customer may suffer as a result any such suspension


Disclaimer of Warranties

  1. Vodafone makes no warranty, implied or express, that any part of the PROMO will be uninterrupted and error-free.
  2. Neither Vodafone nor any of its directors, employees, agents or suppliers shall accept any responsibility for any damage, loss, injury or disappointment suffered by any Customer for participating in the PROMO.



  1. A Player’s continued participation in the PROMO constitutes the Player’s acceptance of any changes to these Terms and Conditions. Players are responsible for remaining knowledgeable as to any changes that Vodafone may make to these Terms and Conditions. Vodafone will endeavour to make available the Terms and Conditions and any changes thereto on the Vodafone website –
  2. Players are liable for any claims from third parties, including the tax authorities, arising from participation in this PROMO.
  3. Personal data relating to players in the PROMO will be processed and used for purposes of the PROMO in accordance with applicable Data Protection Law. Personal data shall be used and exchanged by Vodafone.
  4. Vodafone reserves the right to terminate, suspend, cancel or amend the offer and these Terms and Conditions, reward structure, participation of any subscriber in the PROMO, or procedures at any time. Any changes will be posted on the Vodafone website and other online platforms and shall be binding on a subscriber. Vodafone will use all endeavours to minimise any effect on the subscriber in order to avoid disappointment.
  5. In the event of dispute regarding the interpretation of the Terms and Conditions, conduct and all other matters relating to the offer the decision of Vodafone shall be final and without appeal.
  6. These Terms and Conditions will remain in full force and effect while the offer lasts (not taking into account temporary suspensions of the offer for operational reasons, e.g. for repairs, planned maintenance or upgrades).
  7. These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed exclusively in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Ghana
