VODAFONE GHANA CONTENT SERVICE PROMO

Terms & Conditions

Organizing entity:  VODAFONE GHANA (henceforth the ORGANIZER)

1             Duration & Participation

1.1         VODAFONE “CONTENT SERVICE PROMO” is an Interactive skilled based SMS & Mobisite content promo exclusively for Vodafone subscribers which gives access to a bouquet of premium services and the freedom to select whatever they want! The overall initiative consists of standard Content Service with Free Week, Mobisite which incorporates leaderboard features and charged at a daily fee, giving the participants with the highest points the possibility of getting rewards.

1.2           Means of Participation

Participation may be on any of the following after a Free week:

  • Guessing Game
  • IQ Test
  • M-Learning(French)

 

Vodafone subscribers will enjoy the benefits of the service for free, for 7 days, after which they will join either of the above named interactive services. Throughout the period, participants in either of the services may be prompted to enter the other available services.

 

Participation: Vodafone subscribers will join a service by either dialing a USSD code, sending a Keyword to a short code or get prompts to join through other recruitment channels such as SAT PUSH/smart messaging or Web recruitment. If the subscriber confirms subscription by sending an SMS to the short code or dialing a USSD code for a particular service, access to that service is granted for free for 7 days after which a daily subscription cost of GHS 0.25 (incl. VAT) for Guessing Game and IQ Test service and a daily subscription cost of GHS 0.20 (incl. VAT) for M-Learning(French) service is applied daily after subscription.

 

Free Week:

All subscribers get to play any of the services free for 7 days before he/she is converted to the paid leg.

Each user can have the free trial period only once for a specific service. Meaning that if a user unsubscribes/exits a service after the end of the Free Trial period and then renew the subscription to the same service, he will not have an entirely new 7day free trial period.

Similarly, if a user unsubscribes/exits the service within the free trial period (for example on day 4) and then registers again to the same service he will receive the content that corresponds to the remaining days of his/her free trial.

 

Participation in the draws

 

To stand a chance of winning premium rewards in the Content Promo you need to either dial the USSD code and follow the instructions or send an SMS to the short code. Specific Keywords- such as “OK” sent to respective short codes would generate a Welcome SMS and content of the day (MT Free if the user is in free week or MT Charge if the user is successfully charged). Only upon receipt of the welcome SMS will one be deemed a subscriber of the SERVICE according to these Terms & Conditions. No charges will apply until the aforementioned subscription process is complete.

 

For the rest of the SERVICE PERIOD, the Subscriber will be served 5 questions daily in each of the service through respective short codes. In order for a Subscriber to be eligible for the Prize of a specific prize period, he/she must be successfully charged at least once within this period.

 

 

 Guessing Game

 The Premium Guessing Game offers users the chance to receive up to 5 clues in order to guess the correct answer to a riddle. Charged users can play up to 5 riddles a day at 0.25ghc/day and receive points to enter the draws. Users accumulate points towards the draws upon first subscription and every successful charge. To subscribe to this service a subscriber needs to dial the USSD *2127# and follow the instructions or send specific keywords such as “OK” to the short code 2127.

 

IQ Test

The IQ test offers users the chance to participate in answering interesting and intelligent questions that challenges the mind and helps discover hidden skills. Charged subscribers are served 5 questions daily at 0.25gh. Users accumulate points towards the draws upon first subscription, and every successful charge. To subscribe to this service a subscriber needs to dial the USSD *2128# and follow the instructions or send specific keywords such as “OK” to the short code 2128.

 

M-Learning (French Test)

The French lessons offers interactive learning sessions, making learning a new language easy. Charged subscribers are served up to 5 questions a day at 0.20ghc/day and receive points to enter the draws. Users accumulate points towards the draws upon first subscription, every successful charge and upon answering the questions (i.e. for correct and wrong answers). To subscribe to this service a subscriber needs to dial the USSD *2129# and follow the instructions or send specific keywords such as “OK” to the short code 2129.

 

 

Only upon receipt of the welcome SMS will one be deemed a Subscriber to the Service according to these Terms & Conditions. No charges will apply if the aforementioned subscription process is complete and also there is no charge for the questions received.

 

 

  • The ORGANIZER, at its sole discretion, may limit the maximum number of questions that every Subscriber can play in the trivia Game within a specific period.
  • Participation in this PROMOTION and any winnings are subject to these rules, which will be interpreted by the ORGANIZER at its discretion, whose decision regarding any dispute will be final and binding. The ORGANIZER reserves the right to amend these rules at any time during the PROMOTION PERIOD. The ORGANIZER will not be required to provide any reasons for such alteration and no subscriber will have any claim whatsoever against the ORGANIZER, associated companies and their advertising and promotion agencies.  All information, rules or conditions relating to this PROMOTION, published in or any promotional or advertising material in any media at any time before or during the PROMOTION period, will form part of the terms and conditions of this PROMOTION.
  • The ORGANIZER shall be entitled, in its sole discretion, to reject any entry for any reason whatsoever and will not be obliged to correspond with any person about the PROMOTION.

 

2             Eligibility

2.1         The PROMOTION is open to residents of GHANA that are prepaid subscribers of the ORGANIZER, who are over 18 years old, excluding all employees, representatives and agents of the ORGANIZER, their respective parents and/or affiliated companies, Content suppliers, and those with whom any of the foregoing are domiciled. The person that owns the SIM card or has express authorization from the SIM card’s owner to use it is considered the PARTICIPANT, regardless of the actual user of the phone.

 

3             Game Periods & Prizes

 

3.1         The PROMOTION comprises Weekly and Quarterly periods of play (PRIZE PERIOD), with each PRIZE PERIOD being independent of all others.

3.2         For each PRIZE PERIOD, the corresponding prizes will be awarded to the winners based on the following mechanism:

 

3.2.1    DRAW: One draw will be held each Week and Quarterly. Subscribers will collect points for each subscription renewal in the interactive service and the one collecting first the most points will be eligible for the reward. In the M-Learning service, subscribers will also receive points by replying to the questions. Also, on 1st subscription only, subscribers will earn points, which will also count towards the most points.

3.2.2    Each eligible subscriber will be allotted a number of entries equal to the number of points s/he has accumulated by the end of the PRIZE PERIOD.

 

3.3         To be eligible to participate in the PREMIUM DRAW for any PRIZE PERIOD, the subscriber must have been successfully charged at least once at the daily subscription cost of 0.25ghc for Guessing Game and IQ Test service and GHS 0.20 for M-Learning(French) service (VAT inclusive for all) within the PRIZE PERIOD after which he/she will receive a SUBSCRIPTION SMS.

 

3.4          For each PRIZE PERIOD, a specific number of prizes are available, as defined in the table below:

3.5         PARTICIPANTS charged at least once are eligible to participate in the respective draws.

 

3.6         Prizes must be accepted as awarded and may not be transferred or exchanged. Prizes will be delivered within 30 days from the end of the PROMOTION PERIOD, at a time and place that will be communicated within 10 days after the end of the PROMOTION PERIOD.

 

3.7         Any expense not explicitly indicated as part of the prize, including but not limited to insurance, travel expenses, accommodation, license fees or taxes, are the responsibility of the winner.

 

3.8         The ORGANIZER reserves the right to withhold the prize until satisfied that the claim is valid.

 

3.9         The ORGANIZER reserves the right to terminate the PROMOTION at any time without prior notice.

 

4             Game & Points

PARTICIPANTS

4.1         The first SMS sent to respective service short code by the user, allows the user to enter the free Week and is called the REGISTRATION SMS. In response to the REGISTRATION SMS the user will receive three (3) SMS: 1) a welcome SMS, 2) a SMS notifying the user that the day’s test/quiz/lessons is about to start and 3) an SMS with the first question/clue of the day.

 

4.2         Every SMS with a question contains the question, answer variants in the format 1=AAAAA, 2=BBBBB. The user must select the correct response and send the corresponding number 1 or 2 or the options verbatim. This applies only to IQ Test and French Lessons.

4.3         Across all services, users receive 100 points upon first subscription to each service and upon successful daily renewal in the service.

 

4.4         For every correct answer to a question, the user will receive 20 points. For every incorrect answer, user gets 10 points. Subscribers would receive no points for invalid answers.

 

5             Cost & Subscription

a.    SUBSCRIBERS

 

5.1         Every SUBSCRIPTION SMS successfully received from the short code 2127 is charged at 0.25 GHS inclusive of all taxes. Every SUBSCRIPTION SMS successfully received from the short code 2128 is charged at 0.25 GHS inclusive of all taxes. Every SUBSCRIPTION SMS successfully received from the short code 2129 is charged at 0.20 GHS inclusive of all taxes.

 

5.2         The Weekly and Quarterly Prize draws will be executed as follows:

–      Each point earned equates to one draw entry.

–    To qualify for a particular Prize draw, a subscriber must be successfully charged at least once during that Draw Period.

–        All subscribers enter into the corresponding Prize draw with the total number of points that they have earned up to that prize period. Hence points will be accumulated throughout the Promo.

 

5.3         In case a subscriber does not have sufficient credit to receive the SUBSCRIPTION SMS on a specific day after the free week, he will NOT enjoy ANY of the benefits.

 

5.4         SUBSCRIBERS can terminate their subscription by sending “STOP” to the respective service short code, free of charge or by dialing *2127*0# to cancel subscription to Guessing Game; *2128*0# to cancel subscription from IQ Test, *2129*0# to cancel subscription from M-Learning (French Test)

 

5.5         Subscribers’ subscription can also be canceled at the sole discretion of the ORGANIZER in the event that a clear expression of non-interest in participating in the promotion is demonstrated by the subscriber via SMS (e.g. the Participant is sending an MO message reporting “I do not want to participate”).

 

6             Additional capabilities

 

6.1         SUBSCRIBERS can get more information about the promotion by sending “INFO” to the respective service short codes.

 

6.2         SUBSCRIBERS can get their last unanswered question in the service M-Learning (French Test) for free by sending “LAST” to 2129.

 

6.3         SUBSCRIBERS can get to know their points for free by sending “POINTS” to the respective service short code

 

6.4         SUBSCRIBERS can get to retrieve their credentials for free for accessing the Mobisite by sending “PASSWORD” to the respective service short code.

 

7             Winner selection, notification and prize forfeiture

 

7.1         On a weekly basis, winner(s) will be selected (as specified in section 3).

7.2         For every prize, available in the PRIZE PERIOD, one winner and 10 runner-ups are selected.

 

7.3         Every winner will be contacted by the ORGANIZER on the mobile prepaid number he has used to participate in the PROMOTION. Three (3) consecutive voice call attempts will be made each day by the ORGANIZER to contact the mobile number of the winner within 7 days. If the winner cannot be contacted during this period, he is disqualified and forfeits the prize and the ORGANIZER will attempt to contact the next runner up.

 

7.4         The winner is required to provide proof of eligibility and sign a prize acceptance form (as requested by the ORGANIZER) before prizes can be collected. If the winner fails to provide sufficient proof within fifteen (15) business days, he is disqualified and forfeits the prize and the next runner up is contacted.

 

7.5         If the winner has any outstanding debts towards the ORGANIZER, these need to be settled within three (3) days from being contacted by the ORGANIZER. If outstanding debts are not settled within that period, the winner forfeits the prize.

 

7.6         If the winner and all runner-ups forfeit the prize, the prize is deemed unclaimed and remains at the disposal of the ORGANIZER.

 

7.7         By accepting a prize, a winner consents to the use of his first name, initial of last name, city of residence, photograph and likeness in any promotional material produced by the ORGANIZER. Such use does not entitle the winner to any further compensation.

 

7.8         Prize Winners are required to be available for media interviews.

 

7.9         Prizes are limited to a maximum of one (1) prize per prize category (as defined in section 3.4), per physical person and per MSISDN.

 

 

8             Abuse and disqualification

 

8.1         SUBSCRIBERS are not allowed to use machines that send automatically SMS messages or automate/facilitate the answer process or any other alternative of sending SMS messages, other than the mobile phone (this prohibits the use of any GSM modems attached to a computer or mobile phones attached to a computer). The ORGANIZER has the right to disqualify any SUBSCRIBER under the suspicion of breaking this condition.

8.2         The ORGANIZER may refuse to award any prize if any irregularities or fraudulent activities are detected.

 

9             Organizer’s responsibilities

9.1         ORGANIZER’s responsibility is strictly limited in giving the Prizes. The ORGANIZER cannot be held responsible for any delay or impossibility of sending, receiving and/or billing SMS messages because of a technical problem. All the SMS messages will be considered received by the ORGANIZER when they are registered in the PROMOTION’s IT system and not when they are sent by the SUBSCRIBER. All the SMS messages will be considered received by the SUBSCRIBER at the moment they were sent from the PROMOTION’s IT system. SUBSCRIBERS recognize and accept that the journal of the informatics system of the PROMOTION’s IT System is the proof of the date, hour, minute and second of their receiving/sending each SMS message.

 

10          Personal Data Protection

10.1      By participating in the PROMOTION, the SUBSCRIBERS expressly agree that personal data which they supply shall be processed by the ORGANIZER for the purposes of executing the PROMOTION and also for the purpose of publicizing the PROMOTION and the ORGANIZER. It is hereby specified that the ORGANIZER  guarantees that publicity, entailing the sharing with third parties of personal data supplied as a result of participation in the PROMOTION, (including through television, the press, leaflets and other means and formats of communication) shall be made only with respect to the winners of the Prizes and will only indicate the given names and surnames of the winners, the location of their place of residence, their images and voices (contained in photographic records, audio, video and other types of records, made with the purposes of publicity connected to the PROMOTION).  The winning SUBSCRIBERS give, through their participation in the PROMOTION, express consent for the use of this data in formats herein defined. Following the termination of the PROMOTION, the personal data will be destroyed.

 

10.2      In accordance with local laws and regulations, the ORGANIZER respects the privacy of SUBSCRIBERS of this PROMOTION, by which it is committed to the use of technology in a transparent form and in strict observance of the rights, freedom and guarantees of the citizens and by the reservation of the intimacy of their private and family life. The personal data collected within the scope of this PROMOTION will be treated as private and confidential. It shall not be disclosed to other individuals or organizations, except in the event of legislation to the contrary or where such is authorized by the SUBSCRIBERS themselves. The data will be stored on servers with access controlled on a need-to-know basis and limited by passwords.

 

11          Governing Law & Amendments

11.1      This PROMOTION is organized under and governed by the laws and statutes of GHANA.

11.2      These Terms & Conditions are valid during the PROMOTION PERIOD until amended or suspended by the ORGANIZER.
